Military Medicine:
Forward Products for Forward Areas
"Those in military medicine must be capable of supporting
military forces through a full spectrum of operations. This
will require innovation and forward thinking in strategy,
policy and technology."
Rear Admiral Richard A. Mayo, M.D.
Office of the Assistant Secretary of Defense (Health Affairs)
90% of combat wound deaths occur on the battlefield before
the injured soldier reaches a medical treatment facility.
The need for continual improvement in tactical combat casualty
care – care under fire, tactical field care, and combat
casualty evacuation - has never been more critical.
Forward Medical is dedicated to developing cutting edge medical
devices that improve the capacity of soldiers, combat lifesavers,
91W combat medics, and doctors to treat casualties at the
place and point of wounding, in theater hospitals and during
evacuation. |
 |
Forward Medical will design devices
for such critical areas as: airway/breathing management, diagnostics
and monitoring, hemorrhage control & vascular access, patient
immobilization & extrication, and resuscitation –
customized for:
• Soldier Self-Care: products
to enhance the warfighter’s ability to diagnose, treat,
and speed healing of minor to moderate injuries in the field
for himself and his team;
• Medic-Based Care: products
to improve the capability of combat lifesavers and medics
to manage patient breathing, bleeding, fluids and fractures;
• Forward Surgery: products
for highly mobile treatment facilities such as the U.S.
Marines Forward Resuscitative Surgical System (FRSS) and
U.S. Army’s Forward Surgical Teams (FST) that provide
emergency surgical care close to the front lines within
the first “golden” hour after the soldier is
wounded; and
• Aeromedical Evacuation: products
for evacuation teams such as the U.S. Air Force Medical
Service’s Small Portable Expeditionary Aeromedical
Rapid Response (SPEARR) units that deploy rapidly for medical
support and stabilization of patients for evacuation; and
Critical Care Aeromedical Transport (CCA) teams that evacuate
recently stabilized patients.
Forward Medical seeks partnerships with individuals, organizations
and business entities that are looking to rapidly develop
and deploy technologies – moving ideas from the field
of research to the field of battle - to save soldiers lives.
Forward Medical’s military-medical advisory boards and
strategic relationships provide it with the unique ability
to leverage world-class clinical and corporate relationships
to accelerate product development and deployment.
